Thankfully, Moondragon has mellowed out over the years, forming a powerful bond with her lover Phyla-Vell and playing her part to protect the universe from villains like Thanos. There she both unleashed her full potential and developed a nasty superiority complex. After her father was seemingly killed, Heather was taken by Thanos' father, Mentor, and raised among the highly disciplined monks of Shao-Lom. Background: Once known as Heather Douglas, Moondragon is the daughter of Drax the Destroyer. ![]() She's a powerful telepath and mind-reader as well as having minor telekinetic powers. In addition to being a gifted scientist and martial artist, she's managed to tap into her body's latent psychic abilities. Moondragon Powers: Despite her humble human origins, Moondragon has perfected her mind and body through a combination of willpower and extreme training. And while she was dead for a while, she's returned to defend the galaxy in its time of greatest need. She's risen to prominence thanks to recent conflicts with intergalactic tyrants like Annihilus and the Phalanx, eventually becoming an inaugural member of the present-day Guardians. ![]() Background: Phyla-Vell's background is fairly complicated, but the short story is that she's the daughter of Kree hero Mar-Vell and the brother of Genis-Vell. For a time Pyla also wore the Quantum Bands of Quasar, but those weapons are currently the property of Earthling Avril Kincaid. She also has the power of cosmic awareness, making her alert to the many dangers facing the universe. Phyla-Vell Powers: Phyla-Vell is blessed with both super-strength and flight, as well as the ability to absorb and redirect energy. Groot also recently gained the ability to communicate in full English, meaning his days of saying only "I am Groot" are behind him. Unfortunately, Rocket's whereabouts are currently a mystery, and his absence seems to have put Groot in a perpetually foul mood. Normally, he's never seen without his trusty companion Rocket Raccoon by his side. Background: Groot his another familiar face among the present-day Guardians. He can manipulate his body in various ways, growing to enormous size, harnessing his incredible strength and even regenerating from catastrophic damage. Groot Powers: Groot is a tree-like alien known as a Flora colossus. Taht doesn't mean the Guardains don't still need their leader, however. Unfortunately, with the spectacular collapse of the most recent incarnation of the Guardians, Peter is currently a drunken shell of his usual self. The half-human son of J-Son of Spartax, Peter Quill prefers to avoid both his home planets and instead seek adventure in the stars. Background: Star-Lord continues to be the one constant in the 21st Century incarnation of the Guardians. He wields twin pistols that can harness the power of the four elements - earth, air, fire and water. Star-Lord Powers: Peter Quill wears a specially designed helmet and boots that allow him to breathe and move quickly in space. ![]()
